New Book

"TRIAL, ERROR, HUSTLE". BOARD, RICE PAPER, & COLLAGE. ARTIST BOOK. 2009

"TRIAL, ERROR, HUSTLE". DETAIL.

The pictures above are from my new artist book, "Trial, Error, Hustle". It is an accordion fold book that expands to about 7 1/2 feet, but can also be viewed as a flip-book. I used card-stock and paste-paper for the covers, rice paper for the pages, and collage for the content. Contact me if you would like to see more.

.

So, I'm all done sketching the Ed and Elaine Brown case. Although there is a chance I will be coming back for the sentencing trial on September, 3rd. I will not be posting all the sketches here as I earlier stated, although you can contact me if you would like to view the portfolio or purchase a print. Check the Concord Monitor or AP sources on the 4th to see if I made it back into the newspapers and/or TV.

Design Wrap-Up

I recently finished completing design portfolios for two new businesses (one in Maine and the other in Massachusetts). It's been rough staying inside on those sunny days working towards completion. The above completed design is one of hundreds I designed and reworked for each company.

Courtroom Sketching

In this courtroom sketch by Matt Sell, U.S. Marshal Stephan Monier is on the witness stand as U.S. District Judge George Singal listens during the trial of Ed and Elaine Brown in U.S. District Court in Concord, N.H., Tuesday, June 30, 2009. The Brown's are accused of holing up in his Plainfield, N.H., home to avoid serving time for tax evasion and is on trial for weapons and explosives charges with potential minimum sentences of 30 years in prison. My apologies for taking such a long with posting. I have postponed my American Worker series for a little to pursue other endeavors, namely courtroom sketches. Last week the local New Hampshire TV station WMUR hired me to draw for the Ed and Elaine Brown case. While working on the case the Associated Press purchased a couple of drawings which were published in newspapers, online news groups, and periodicals from here to California. Local newspapers where the drawings are published consist of: The Concord Monitor and The Union Leader. New sketches can be seen on WMUR Channel 9 News as the case proceeds. I will eventually post all of the drawings here after my job with WMUR is complete (this is to preserve my [and the AP's] copyright). Drawings may be purchased for private use or publication through the contact information found on my website ( http://www.mattsellsart.com ). A sideshow is available here at WMUR's website.
